Board Operating Procedures
These Board Operating Procedures are intended to guide and assist the Board of Trustees and the Superintendent in conducting District business. They are not intended to confer legal rights on any other person. These procedures are not intended to take precedence over adopted Board Policy. If there is a conflict or inconsistency between these Procedures and adopted Board Policy, every effort will be made to revise Board Policy and/or the Board Operating Procedures to reflect the intent of the Board. At no time are these procedures intended to over-ride Board Policy or state or federal law.
Board Operating Procedures approved March 28, 2023
School Board Meetings:
Agendas are posted at least 72 hours prior to each meeting. Citizens are invited to attend board meetings and may address the board during the public forum which is included at all board meetings. Concerns and complaints regarding specific individuals should not be raised in public forum; they must be considered separately according to applicable board policies. Each participant will be limited to three minutes to make comments to the Board. Any group of five or more persons must appoint one person to present the group’s views to the Board. The Board is not permitted to discuss or act upon any issues that are not posted on the agenda at the meeting. The Board has adopted complaint policies that are designed to secure, at the lowest possible administrative level, a prompt and equitable resolution of complaints and concerns. Each of these processes provides that, if a resolution cannot be achieved administratively, the person may appeal the administrative decision to the Board as a properly posted on the agenda item.
