New Employees

Start Here

Before consideration for prospective employment, the following items must be submitted in order for the application to be considered complete:

  • Employment Application
    • Complete an application online.
  • Reference Forms
    • Option #1 - You will need to submit an email address for your references in your application. An electronic reference request will be sent automatically. If you do not have the email address of your references then you will need to follow the procedures in option #2.
    • Option #2 - Download, complete and submit three, addressed stamped envelopes and reference forms to the Human Resources Department. Edgewood will process the reference forms.
    • Former and/or present employers will be contacted for employment verification. If you prefer that your present employer not be contacted, you must state this on the application.
  • Credentials/Certificates/Licenses
    • Attach copies as required by the job qualifications. You must also submit documentation of educational attainment, for example, high school diploma, GED certificate or college transcripts.

Your application will not be processed until the Human Resources Department obtains all of the required information listed above. If you are applying for a posted position, all documentation must be submitted before you will be considered for a position.

Applicants undergo a pre-screening process, which includes a review of an application for completion, criminal history check, prior employment reference checks, and other reviews as necessary. If all credentials are met for the job applying for, the application will be forwarded to the hiring official. Your application shall remain active for a period not to exceed 365 days from the date of this application. If you wish to be considered for employment beyond this period, you will be required to submit a new application.


Fingerprinting

All non-certified employees and substitutes hired on or after January 1, 2008, must submit fingerprint identification information to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Department of Public Safety (DPS) before beginning employment. After a recommendation for hire is received, the EISD Talent Management Department will forward demographic information on the applicant to TEA. TEA will email a “FAST Pass” form to the District which will be used by the applicant to schedule an appointment with TEA for fingerprinting.

 


Before You Arrive

Starting a new position is an exciting time and we share in your excitement! Undoubtedly, you have many questions that make the transition seem overwhelming at times. The following information will help you navigate through your first year of employment with Edgewood ISD and keep you connected and informed. Please reach out to your supervisor and/or the Human Resources Department with any questions that are not answered here.

What to bring to signing/processing day:

  • Your ID (Driver's License, State issued ID or US Passport)
  • Your Social Security card (for payroll purposes)
  • A blank check (for direct deposit)
  • IRS tax dependent information for your I9 form
  • Your daily schedule, job description, and general expectations

Every position is unique; therefore, daily schedules, job responsibilities, and expectations vary according to your new role. Following the steps below will assist you in acclimating to your new workplace:

  • Reach out to your principal/supervisor to determine your first week's schedule
  • Review hours and days of work. Learn about overtime procedures, personal leave time, holidays, and any flexible work procedures
  • Set up your workspace and/or classroom, if possible
  • Get a tour of your campus and/or workspace

  • Use your Network Access letter to log onto the network, email, and Office 365
  • Contact the Edgewood ISD Help Desk if you have any technology challenges or concerns
  • Dialog with your principal or supervisor to clarify job expectations and role responsibilities
  • Ask for contextual and historical information about your campus/department's goals and strategic direction
  • Complete required online training (login required)
  • Get a tour of your building, if you haven't already done so
  • Meet others in your department, as well as people that you will work closely within other departments

Employee Selection Process

HR staff review applications against several criteria to ensure applicants meet minimum qualifications and hiring standards of the District. With some professional positions (i.e., campus administrators) candidates who pass through initial filters are interviewed by a screening panel to gage their job-related knowledge, skills, and fit.
