Students, alumni, and distinguished guests gathered together at Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary School on Thursday, November 14th to celebrate the campus' milestone. Former State Representative Charlie Gonzalez, Henry B. Gonzalez's son, and his family were in attendance at the event. He spoke of his father's love of learning and the impact teachers had in his life, "One of my father's proudest achievements was having this campus named after him." Other special guests in attendance were State Representative Ina Minjarez and Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales.

HBG's Mariachi sang while performing on their guitars; the Memorial Jazz Band played Song for San Miguel; and several HBG students came to the stage and sang Henry B. Gonzalez's new alma mater song.

Principal Dr. Tania Moran recognized all current students and employees in attendance as well as HBG alumni and former employees in the audience. "What a blessing that I get to be a part of our HBG Family as we celebrate fifty years! I am honored and forever thankful," announced Dr. Moran.
