Gifted and Talented Program

Program Description

Elementary G/T students are cluster-grouped into a trained teacher's classroom where a differentiated curriculum is provided and attend a pull-out program twice a month and participate in the Texas Performance Standards Project. Middle School students are also placed in trained teacher's classroom for the core academic areas where a differentiated curriculum is provided and are served through Pre-AP courses. High school G/T students are are also placed in trained teacher's classroom for the core academic areas where a differentiated curriculum is provided and are served through Advanced Placement (AP), Pre-AP courses in the core areas.

Nomination

Nominations may be obtained from any person familiar with the student's abilities, potential, performance, or past records and include the following: (a) administrators (b) teachers (c) parents (d) community members (e) self

Campus Presentation for Nomination Process

Identification

Students are nominated for screening for the G/T Program each spring. Identification criteria include test scores, parent, and teacher ratings.

Kindergarten nomination deadline: Dec. 3, 2018
1st -12 grade nomination deadline: Jan. 7, 2019

Screening Procedures

Written permission is secured from parents for special testing of students.

Testing of students for the program will be conducted by Advanced Academics.
