School district Police Officers work for the district that commissions them Under the Education Code of the State of Texas, school district police officers are supervised by the Chief of Police of the district. This matter is designated by law under 37.081 of the Texas Education Code. The Chief of Police of the district reports to the Superintendent of Schools.

The Edgewood ISD Police Department's jurisdiction includes all the geographical territory within the boundaries of the District's 16 square miles, as well as on any property outside of the District that is owned, leased or otherwise under the control of the Board of Trustees.
