Gifted and Talented Program

Program Description

Elementary G/T students are cluster-grouped into a trained teacher's classroom where a differentiated curriculum is provided and attend a pull-out program twice a month and participate in the Texas Performance Standards Project. Middle School students are also placed in trained teacher's classroom for the core academic areas where a differentiated curriculum is provided and are served through Pre-AP courses. High school G/T students are also placed in trained teacher's classrooms= for the core academic areas where a differentiated curriculum is provided and are served through Advanced Placement (AP), Pre-AP courses in the core areas.

Nomination

Nominations may be obtained from any person familiar with the student's abilities, potential, performance, or past records and include the following: (a) administrators (b) teachers (c) parents (d) community members (e) self

Campus Presentation for Nomination Process

Identification

Students are nominated for screening for the G/T Program each spring. Identification criteria include test scores, parent, and teacher ratings.

 

Screening Procedures

Written permission is secured from parents for special testing of students.

Testing of students for the program will be conducted by Advanced Academics.
