Members of the Edgewood Fine Arts Academy theater troupe qualified for the International Thespian Festival. Seven members of the of earned Superior ratings which qualified for the National competition next summer. Theater Director Claudia Casso looks forward to what the future holds for these young actors.
“I take great pride in our national qualifiers' dedication to excellence in theatre,” says Casso.
The Troupe 7382 students who qualified for nationals are:
- Prynce Sykes - Solo Music
- Serina Garces - Costume Design
- Mayra Venegas - Costume Design (Three-time National Qualifier, Thespy Superior Medalist, 2022)
- David Perez - Solo Musical (Three-time National Qualifier)
- Ava Duquette - Solo Musical (Two-time National Qualifier)
- Adam Islacue - Solo Acting (Two-time National Qualifier)
- Loki Mejia- Set Design (Two-time National Qualifier)
In addition to those who qualified for Nationals, 12 other students from Edgewood Fine Arts Academy earned an Excellent rating for their work. “I'm proud of every member of Troupe 7382 for their relentless effort and determination,” says Casso.
More than 10,000 students from across the state competed at the Texas State Thespian Festival. The event gives students a chance to attend workshops, perform for troupes from other schools and make connections within the theater community. The International Thespian Festival will be held at Indiana University Bloomington in June 2024.
