Jennica, a junior at Fine Arts Academy and member of The Academy Acting Company, was selected as a 2021- 2022 State Thespian, an achievement very few students acquire during their years in theatre.

She is one of 19 students selected out of a pool of 15,000 applicants!

“To be selected as a 2021-2022 State Thespian Officer is a true honor for me,” said Jennica. “I feel very grateful to be the first person in our Thespian Troupe to be selected for this amazing opportunity. I am also very excited to represent and advocate for theatre arts.”

The role of a State Thespian Officer is a large responsibility. They plan, host, and manage the upcoming Texas State Thespian Festival and Leadership Workshops around the state. They also serve as a Texas representative at the International Thespian Festival.

Ms. Claudia Casso, Theatre Arts Director, couldn’t be prouder and excited for her students.

“I am extremely proud of Jennica. For the past two years, she has worked hard to advocate and represent our theatre program serving as Public Relations Officer & Vice President,” she said. “Jennica will raise awareness statewide of our theatre program at the Edgewood Fine Arts Academy!”

Another extraordinary student leading the troupe is Academy Acting Company member and junior at Fine Arts Academy, Eddy Escobar. With three National Qualifying attributes in Acting, Eddy was recently named National Qualifier in Monologue for the International Thespian Excellence Awards (Thespys). He has earned an opportunity to compete virtually at the Thespys in June 2021.

Also in his resume is National Medalist and actor in one of the top group scenes in the nation.

We are so excited for our students and wish them the best of luck! Way to go Jennica and Eddy. #EdgewoodProud
