Edgewood ISD teachers and staff are looking their best thanks to the Cosmetology students at Edgewood Fine Arts Academy. In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, students offered manicures, microdermabrasion, waxing, facials, hair color and haircuts  to say thank you to these educators.

“This year has been full of growth,” says Holly Yates, EISD Cosmetology instructor. “Our students have participated in many community events, provided teacher celebrations and adopted a Senior Center for monthly services.”

There are currently 80 students in the cosmetology program. Yates says the goal for all students who enter the program their freshman year in high school, is to be licensed by the end of their senior year.  Students must complete 1,000 hours to be eligible to take the State Cosmetology Board Exam.

“We are always eager for students to commit four years and be part of our amazing cosmetology program,” says Yates.

The Cosmetology program is offered at Edgewood Fine Arts Academy, which is part of the EISD Fine Arts Zone that also includes Wrenn Middle School and Stafford Elementary School.
