This is the image for the news article titled District Holds Family Fan Fare for AlamoPROMISE Edgewood ISD juniors, seniors and their families were invited to learn about how they can benefit from the AlamoPROMISE, an Alamo Community Colleges District program that offers college tuition-free. Held at the Edgewood Theatre of Performing Arts, attendees heard from Superintendent Dr. Hernandez, enrollment advisors, AlamoPROMISE representatives and enjoyed performances by the John F. Kennedy and Memorial drumline and cheer.

According to their website, alamo.edu, AlamoPROMISE covers the cost of tuition and fees to graduating students for completion of a credential or three years of college at one of the Alamo Colleges. During Phase I of this program, John F. Kennedy and Memorial High School are listed as two of the 25 eligible high schools in Bexar County.

“Alamo Colleges can prepare our students to get the career they deserve,” said Andres Arredondo, Enrollment Lead at the Alamo Community Colleges District. “Students can get their certificate, or an associate degree and we can help connect you to employers.”

Later, families and students made their way to the theatre foyer where representatives from each of the five community colleges including Palo Alto College and San Antonio College were set up. Students received more insight on enrollment, college courses, credits and made the pledge to attend one of the five community colleges in the Fall 2020 semester.

“I'm so excited to attend San Antonio College next year! I plan to be a pediatric nurse and major in Nursing," said Alyssa, Memorial High School senior.
