Students and teachers at LBJ Elementary School received extra support for the new school year thanks to a generous donation from the South Texas Ford Trucks Mafia.
The nonprofit truck club donated school supplies that teachers can keep on hand throughout the year to support students who may need additional classroom materials. The donation helps ensure every student has access to the tools needed to learn and succeed.
“It’s truly a humbling and heartfelt experience to see the smiles and gratitude of students and teachers,” said Jimmy Sauceda, president of the South Texas Ford Trucks Mafia. “We are overjoyed to help give students an equal opportunity to succeed and prevent them from falling behind because they lack basic supplies like pencils or notebooks.”
This marks the third consecutive year the organization has supported Edgewood ISD. Over the years, the group has continued to invest in EISD students and schools through donations that help ease some of the financial burden families face during the back-to-school season.
“We choose to support Edgewood ISD and the West Side because we want to make a positive impact and help families who may struggle to afford school supplies,” said Sauceda.
South Texas Ford Trucks Mafia regularly partners with community organizations, including Mac Haik's Southway Ford, to provide backpacks, school supplies, uniforms and other resources to schools and students across the region.
Organizations interested in supporting Edgewood ISD schools are encouraged to contact the district’s Family & Community Engagement Department to learn more about volunteer and donation opportunities.
