2026 State Powerlifting Champions

Edgewood ISD is celebrating outstanding achievements by student-athletes who competed at the state level in powerlifting this season. These impressive performances highlight the strength, discipline, and dedication of our students and coaches.

Minutemen Powerlifters Shine at State

Congratulations to the Memorial High School Powerlifters for a successful showing at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association State Competition. Several athletes earned top finishes in their respective divisions:

  • Kendra Colchado placed 4th in the Women’s State Competition

  • John Elizondo earned an impressive 2nd place finish

  • Felipe Pena Chu placed 4th in the Men’s State Competition

In addition to these individual accomplishments, the MHS Men’s Team finished 16th overall in the state, an outstanding achievement that reflects the team’s hard work and commitment throughout the season.

JFK Powerlifter Earns State Runner-Up Title

Congratulations as well to Ariel Casarez from John F. Kennedy High School. She earned 2nd place at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association State Championship, in her division. Ariel posted an exceptional total lift of 940 pounds, including:

  • 380 lb squat

  • 210 lb bench press

  • 350 lb deadlift

Her remarkable performance is a testament to her strength, perseverance, and dedication, placing her among the top powerlifters in the state.

EISD is incredibly proud of all these student-athletes and their coaches for representing their schools and our commuity with excellence and determination. Their achievements are a powerful example of what can be accomplished through hard work, focus, and passion.
