Roosevelt Dual Language Academy is celebrating the talented work of its young artists following recognition in the 2026 Texas Cavaliers’ River Parade Art Contest.
Fifth grader Mia Aguilar was selected as one of only 10 finalists citywide. Mia and her fellow finalists were honored by King Antonio CIII, Gardner Peavy, and the Texas Cavaliers during a special poster unveiling event at the McNay Art Museum.
Mia’s artwork, titled “Fiesta Through the Decades,” will be featured on a special Fiesta-themed VIA Metropolitan Transit bus, giving her work a unique platform across San Antonio. Her achievement also earned $3,000 to support the RDLA art program.

RDLA also congratulates Valentina Oseguera Izarrararas, another fifth grader, who received runner-up honors and earned $1,000 for the school’s art program.
RDLA extends a heartfelt thank-you to art teacher Elizabeth San Miguel for inspiring creativity and encouraging student participation. These accomplishments highlight the impact of strong arts education and the bright talent within the Roosevelt community.
