San Antonio, TX - The Edgewood Independent School District (ISD) Board of Managers has named Dr. Eduardo Hernandez as new Superintendent of Edgewood ISD. “He is a dreamer of dreams that envisions great possibilities,” said Roy R. Soto, Board of Managers President. “He knows our story, recognizes our Edgewood Pride and is eager to become a part of our family. He will inspire and drive excellence with adults and scholars alike.” Hernandez will replace out-going Interim Superintendent Philip Chavez. Dr. Hernandez has served as the Chief of Schools and Chief Officer of Academics and Innovation for the Duncanville ISD and brings over 19 years of experience in the field working in other districts like Terrell, Crowley and Dallas ISD's. Dr. Hernandez’s start date is July 1, 2018.
The Edgewood ISD Board of Managers followed an extensive process in determining the finalist and hiring of Dr. Hernandez. In March 2018, the EISD Board hired Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services to direct the search. TASB consultants met with staff and community groups in April to discuss leadership qualities of the new superintendent.
Edgewood ISD provides an exceptional learning experience that engages, empowers, and prepares students to compete and reach their highest potential in an ever-changing world.
