Megan Prado

Megan grew up in Waco, Texas and is a proud Texas State University graduate. This is her first year teaching and she's confident that this is exactly what she was born to do. “I enjoy forming relationships with the kids and spending time watching them grow. Every day we are able to work through challenging situations whether it’s in the classroom, at home or maybe with their friends,” said Megan. Along with teaching the daily curriculum, she also teaches important soft skills that will help her students later in life. “I hope they can see from me that being transparent and authentic about who you are is important, no matter what level of life you are at. I come in everyday honest and transparent about the things I struggle with especially in reading and writing because I think it’s important for them to see that adults struggle too.” For some, their first year teaching may bring a sense of uncertainty of what's ahead, but for Brentwood's Teacher of the Year, Megan exudes a high-energy and excitement for what's to come. “I was overwhelmed and super thankful when I found out I was nominated. I have been put exactly where I need to be for my first year and I'm all about continuing to learn and trying new things. I’m excited to see how I can grow past this recognition. I know I need to keep working hard to help my students.”
