Open Records Request

The Public Information Act, formerly known as the Open Records Act, is located at chapter 552 of the Government Code. The Act provides a mechanism for citizens to inspect or copy government records. It also provides for instances in which governmental bodies wish to, or are required by law to, withhold government records from the public. The Attorney General is responsible for ensuring that Texas government is open and accessible to all citizens. Click here for more information on the Open Records Act.

The request must be in writing and must be addressed to the governmental body. You may use the Request for Records Form listed below. While the request does not need to be addressed to any particular person, it is a good practice to clearly label your correspondence as a "Public Information Request" or "Open Records Request." Requests sent via fax or email must be addressed to the public information officer or to the person designated by that officer to receive such requests.

Please be advised that, beginning February 1, 2024, the District shall charge for open records requests to the extent allowed by applicable law. See Open Records Request Form for more information regarding costs associated with your request.

Edgewood ISD Background Check Process

Because the safety of our students and staff is our top priority, those wanting to become Edgewood ISD employees, interested applicants, volunteers, or student teachers/observers, must perform a background check for security measures before serving in our district.

Employees, Interested Applicants, Volunteers, and Student Teachers/Observers are required to follow the district’s background check vetting process as outlined below:

Step One: Online Application

  1. All employees and interested applicants must complete an online application. The applications can be found on ourCareer Page.

  2. All Volunteers, to include but not limited to all community volunteers, business and community partners, or any other person wanting to gain access, work or help in the school (e.g., Presenters, Interns, Student Teachers/Observers, etc.), or who intend to do business with the school or District where students and/or minors are present must complete an online application. The application can be found on our Volunteer page.

  3. All volunteers who submit their online application will receive an email confirmation if the application has been successfully submitted.
