EISD Students Compete in Robotics Competition

This is the image for the news article titled EISD Students Compete in Robotics CompetitionOver one hundred EISD students and mentors on 19 teams from across the district competed in the annual E.R.I.C Robotics Challenge.

This year’s theme was ‘A Day in the Park’ and took place in the gym at Brentwood STEAM School of Innovation.

Hosted by the CTE Department, the E.R.I.C Challenge is a robotics competition featuring students from EISD elementary and middle schools.

Taking first place for the Elementary category was the Stafford Crusader Bots II from Stafford Elementary, with a total of 1140 points.

First place for the middle school category went to Brentwood Team Scrap from Brentwood STEAM School of Innovation, with a total of 1150 points.

Awards were also presented to the following teams:

Best Theme:  Awarded to a team that embraced the competition theme "A Day in the Park."

Elementary Category:  Winston Intermediate School of Innovation
Elementary Category: Winston Intermediate School of Innovation. 


Middle School Category: Brentwood STEAM School of Innovation

Best School Spirit: Awarded to the team with the most campus and Edgewood pride.

Elementary Category: Winston Intermediate School of Innovation

Middle School Category: Brentwood STEAM School of Innovation

Innovative Robot Design: Awarded to the team with the most innovative robot design that was shown to be successful and unique. Participants had the option to add additional materials, that were not included in the standard Lego kit.

Elementary Category: Las Palmas Team Fifth.
Middle School Category: Brentwood Runestone Runner Bots

Consistent Performance: Awarded to the team with a consistent score in over three matches.

Elementary Category: Stafford Crusader Bots I.
Middle School Category: Brentwood Runestone Runner Bots

Collaboration / Project Challenge Award: The Collaboration Challenge Award involved each team submitting a video or narrated PowerPoint that introduced the team members, how they tackled the robotics challenge, and how they shared the challenge experience with their community and school.

Elementary
1st Place: Winston ISE W-Power
2nd Place: Winston ISE Team Robowise 103
3rd Place: Roy Cisneros Team Greedo

Middle School
1st Place: Brentwood Bots
2nd Place: Brentwood 6th grade Boys
3rd Place: Brentwood Runestone Runner Bots

E.R.I.C. Challenge Award: Winners of this category are determined by taking the average of the top two scoring rounds combined.  

Elementary
1st Place: Stafford Crusader Bots II, 1140 points
2nd Place: Perales Blaze Runners, 1025 points
3rd Place: Winston W-Power, 820 points

Middle School
1st Place: Brentwood Team Scrap 6th grade, 1150 points
2nd Place: Brentwood Team 5 Guys and 1 Fry 6th grade, 1145 points
3rd Place: Brentwood Team Brentwood Bots, 750 points
