Robert Miller, Ph.D. - Director of Research and Evaluation

Dr. Robert Miller brings 20 years of experience in research and evaluation to Edgewood ISD. Prior to joining EISD in 2015 as a Senior Evaluator, he served as an associate research scientist and graduate faculty member at Texas A&M University - College Station where he was also the Associate Director for the Education Leadership Research Center (ELRC). His career path started in Texas as a public school social studies teacher. Dr. Miller believes assessment and evaluation is an integral part of instruction as it determines whether schools are meeting their goals and serving their students' needs as they strive for success.

Brenda Figueroa - Assessment Evaluator

Ms. Brenda Figueroa has been in the Instructional field since 2001. Prior to becoming the Assessment Evaluator she worked as an Instructional Technology Facilitator at Alonso S. Perales Elementary and before that she taught 7th & 8th grade Technology Applications. Besides working as a teacher, Ms. Figueroa has worked for the US Forest Service in Washington DC where she developed national training modules. She also worked as the Director of Research and Training for a non-profit in Austin. She began working with the Edgewood family in 2012 and she is extremely excited to be part of the Research and Evaluation team. Ms. Figueroa believes student success happens when actions reflect what's in the best interest of the students.

Phase Completion

This Edgewood ISD employee has demonstrated technology proficiency by completing the EISD's Technology Assessments and the Web Portfolio.

Edgewood's Technology Assessments are based on SBEC's Technology Applications Standards for Teachers. SBEC's Technology Applications Standards are divided into eleven standards, however, regular classroom teachers are only required to demonstrate proficiency in Standards I - V. These standards outline the basic knowledge and skills a teacher needs in order to be proficient in a 21st century classroom. Standards VI - XI are reserved for high school computer science teachers.
