San Antonio Junior Forum

The first annual San Antonio Junior Forum Scholarship fund was established in 1972. Each year, graduating seniors from Bexar County High Schools, are given the opportunity to apply for SAJF scholarships through the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation's Bexar County Scholarship Clearing House. San Antonio Junior Forum has awarded more than $200,000.00 to students who we feel are outstanding examples of intelligent, motivated and caring individuals.

San Antonio Junior Forum offers a minimum of three scholarships annually (A - C listed below). Other scholarships may be offered to graduating seniors if funds are available. SAJF will offer the following scholarships for seniors graduating during their 2012-2013 school year. The scholarship will fund the recipients' 2013-2014 school year.

  1. One (1) San Antonio Junior Forum Margaret Hudson Scholarship of $8000 is awarded every four years, apportioned at $2000 per year, to a graduating senior planning on attending an accredited college/university in Texas
  2. One (1) San Antonio Junior Forum Memorial Scholarship of $2000 is awarded each year to a graduating senior planning on attending an accredited college/university in the USA
  3. One (1) San Antonio Junior Forum Presidential Scholarship of $2000 is awarded each year to a graduating senior planning on attending an accredited college/university in Texas
  4. One (1) San Antonio Junior Forum Presidential Scholarship for Special Needs Students of $2000 may be awarded each year to a graduating senior planning on pursuing post secondary education after graduation in the USA

Dell Scholars Program

How to Apply

Completing the online application is the first step to becoming a Dell Scholar. Once submitted, all applications will be assessed, and a group of Dell Scholar Semifinalists will be selected. Semifinalists are asked to submit a current copy of their high school transcript, a complete Student Aid Report (SAR) from their FAFSA, and an online recommendation. After the semifinalist information is submitted, all information is reviewed by an independent selection committee.

P. Buckley Moss Endowed Scholarship for High School Seniors

P. Buckley Moss Foundation

Type: Scholarship

Amount: Up to $1,000.00

Scholarship(s) up-to $1,000.00 will be awarded to one or more high school seniors with financial need, a certified language-related learning difference, and artistic talent who plan a career in visual arts. Scholarships are potentially renewable for up to three additional years for a 4-year college. Students should be taking art classes during each semester.

In keeping with the goals of renowned artist P. Buckley Moss, who struggled with dyslexia during her school years, this scholarship represents her dedication to young people who have learning disabilities and are aspiring towards a career in the visual arts.

St. Mary's University Scholarship Resources

St. Mary's University

These scholarships are awarded based on specific criteria and have unique requirements. They may or may not be renewable. Check with the Office of Financial Assistance for more details.

The St. Louis Scholars Award is a full-tuition scholarship for four years (eight semesters) of full-time, undergraduate study. It is awarded to four undergraduate students, one from each of the Marianist high schools in St. Louis and Omaha, and up to four additional awards to students from other Catholic high school in those areas.

The Alumni Scholarship is added to an existing academic award to equal a full-tuition scholarship each year. Receipt of a recommendation from an alumnus is strongly encouraged and given significant weight. Students are considered once the alumni recommendation is received.

If you plan on entering the Bill Greehey School of Business and meet the academic requirements, you are invited to apply for the Greehey Scholars Program. The highly competitive program guarantees funding for tuition, room, board, and books.

The Honors Program is open to top applicants by invitation from the Office of Admission.

Funded by the Marianist Trust, the Marianist Leadership Program provides $3,500 per year to students selected for the program. MLP students are committed to educational and experiential opportunities focused on faith and leadership.

Other awards are available based on achievement or specific talents. St. Mary's competes in NCAA Division II athletics; scholarships are available in 11 sports. Music talent awards are available to music majors and minors. Generous Army ROTC scholarships are available in two-, three- and four-year terms.

Research and apply for additional scholarships outside those offered by St. Mary's. Check with your hometown, church, school or other private funding sources to find additional funds.

    UTSA has three types of scholarships:

    • General Scholarships: Are awarded through the Office of Student Financial Aid & Enrollment Services. First-time freshman and new transfer students MUST apply for general scholarships atwww.applytexas.org. Continuing undergraduate and graduate students must apply using the General Scholarship Application, located on ASAP. The General Scholarship Application deadline for Freshman on ApplyTexas is December 1st of each year, and February 15th for Transfer and Continuing students. Students are encouraged to apply for admissions and complete the FAFSA by March 15th. Only students who have been admitted to UTSA by this date will be considered for a scholarship.     • Departmental Scholarships: The various departments/colleges on campus have their own General Application (College of Business/Liberal & Fine Arts, etc.) A list of all departmental scholarships and the criteria for each scholarship is listed on www.utsa.edu/scholarships/scholarship. Most departments have a February 15th deadline, but there are others with varying deadlines. Contact your college or department for details and application procedures.
    • Miscellaneous Scholarships: These scholarships are from donors outside of UTSA. Students get applications from these outside sources throughout the year. Some of these are from web searches, local organizations, etc. The Student Financial Aid & Enrollment Services Center displays outside scholarship applications on a rack in the area near the computers in the hall way near the front of the entrance to the Enrollment Services Counter. These are continually updated. Students are encouraged to come by at least once a month and browse through these applications to see if they meet the eligibility requirements.

As a part of a new or renewal NSF proposal or as a supplemental funding request to an existing NSF Award, the Directorate for Biological Sciences (BIO) will consider requests that:

    • Foster interest in the pursuit of studies in the Biological Sciences; and
    • Broaden participation of high school students, particularly those who are underrepresented minorities, persons with disabilities, and women in sub-disciplines where they are underrepresented.

    NIH High School Scientific Training and Enrichment Program (HISTEP) Grant

    The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Intramural Training & Education and Office of Scientific Workforce Diversity are proud to host the High School Scientific Training and Enrichment Program (HiSTEP). The goal of HiSTEP is to expand the pipeline of students interested in biomedical and healthcare careers by providing opportunities for high school students from schools with a large population of financially-disadvantaged students. We encourage current high school juniors interested in STEM-M (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medically-related) fields to apply.

    HiSTEP students will take part in a six-week, full-time summer internship located on the main NIH campus in Bethesda, MD from June 27th to August 10th, 2017. HiSTEP students will explore the breadth of the scientific enterprise, the importance of biomedical research, and many STEM-M careers. They will complete workshops, lectures, and hands-on activities. Students will receive Transhare benefits to cover the cost of public transportation and a stipend determined by their education level completed prior to starting at the NIH.

The programs reflect the Institute's longstanding commitment to research training and career development for young people.
