Tech. Accountability

The Instructional Technology Department is in the Edgewood Service Center at Emma Frey. Members of the department play a central role in planning and implementing EISD's strategies for computing technology.

We offer a variety of staff development sessions on computing technology, ranging from introductory to advanced levels. These sessions are taught throughout the district. Special staff development sessions may be arranged in response to requests for training that fall outside our regular Staff Development Schedule. We also provide community members the opportunity to learn how to use computers for their personal and community interests.

We have partnered with to provide confidential assessments of teacher's 21st century skills and provide meaningful data to identify gaps and target professional development. Employees may take these assessments with an Instructional Technology Facilitator on their home campus.

Technology Accountability

5th & 8th Grade Technology Literacy Assessment

Each campus serving 5th and 8th grade students will administer a TechApps Literacy Assessment in the Fall and the Spring. The purpose of this is to make sure that every student is technologically literate by the time the student completes the eighth grade regardless of background.

- All 5th & 8th grade students are required to participate in this online assessment.

When is it?

The pre-assessment testing window is
Oct. 21 - Nov. 01, 2019

Digital Citizenship and Cyber Safety

To ensure annual eRate compliance for the current school year, campus professional staff in EISD are required to play a key role in each of the following components of Digital Citizenship and CyberSafety program.

- Campus Educators (Teachers, Campus Administrators, Teacher-Librarians) must take a self-paced online course available through SafeSchools.

- All PreK-12 students must have lessons facilitated for them using the approved curriculum. It is up to the campus principal to decide who exactly will facilitate the lessons, whether it will be a classroom teacher, librarian, assistant principal, or a combination of these professionals.

- Campus Administrators (Principals) or their designee must verify that
1) All educators have completed the self-paced course and
2) That the lessons have been taught to students on campus.
