Edgewood Independent School District is excited to welcome our students back to school for the 2021-2022 academic year! This year EISD is all about #GrowingGreatness in our District through our students and staff. Below you will find important answers to questions about the start of school. When is the first day of school?

The first day of school is Monday, August 9, 2021 for most* EISD campuses.

*Gardendale Early Learning Program's first day of classes is Monday, August 16, 2021.

Does my student have to wear a uniform?
Most elementary and middle school campuses require uniforms. Visit our Student Uniform page for campus specific uniform requirements.

All students, including high school students, must follow the Dress Code guidelines found in the EISD Student Handbook and Code of Conduct.



What school supplies does my student need?

  • Middle and High School students will receive school supplies and backpacks at the event
  • Elementary students will receive a backpack at the event. Elementary students will receive school supplies at their campus the first week of school from our partners at SA YES.
  • Students can receive their back to school vaccines and physicals for FREE!
  • Students (ages 12 and up) can receive their free COVID-19 vaccine thanks to our partners at Communicare.
When is Meet the Teacher Night?

Meet the Teacher Nights dates:

  • Elementary Schools - Wednesday, August 4 from 4-6 pm 
  • Middle Schools - Thursday, August 5 from 5-7 pm
  • High Schools - Friday, August 6 from 5-7pm

Will there be a virtual learning model offered?
No, all students will return to in-person learning for the 2021-2022 school year.
Does my student have to get the COVID-19 vaccine to attend school?
EISD follows and will continue to abide by the executive orders and guidelines set forth by the Federal and State Governments.

As of July 12, 2021, the State of Texas does not require students to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to attend school.

Does my student have to wear a face covering in school?
EISD follows and will continue to abide by the executive orders and guidelines set forth by the Federal and State Governments.

As of July 12, 2021, the State of Texas cannot require students or staff to wear face coverings on school property. Families can use their discretion when it comes to face coverings. Edgewood ISD will continue to practice frequent sanitization of high traffic areas and social distancing, when possible.
