    Students will be practicing their listening and  speaking skills. This course is designed  to enhance and engage our students submerging them into the  world of reading.  

    We will be digging for hidden treasure using a variety of strategies. Our strategies consist  of  utilizing  "Fountas and Pinnell" assessment system along with  Stephanie Harvey "The Comprehension Toolkit"  which are both proven research based  data for integrating the six clusters across the curriculum.    

    Homework policy:

    Homework assignments are given  on first day of the week. Homework will consist of  vocabulary words from passages that we will be reading that week.

    Students are expected to find definitions and write them down.

    We will be reviewing the words on the following day. The student will be given until the next day to return completed assignment for a grade. These vocabulary terms are to be studied everyday for assessment at the end of the week.  It is imperative that students complete their homework for an optimal assessment grade at the end of the week. If student is absent, it is the student's responsibility to get the assignment from homework assignment box.
