Course Description & Expectations:
The High School World History course is a survey of thehistory of humankind. The scope of this course
focuses on the study of significant people, events, and issues in westerncivilization as well as in
civilizations in other parts of the world from 8000 BC to the present. Thecurriculum, instruction, and
assessment resources below are specifically designed and selected to addressthe Texas Essential
Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards that identify what students should knowand be able to do at each
grade level and within each course. These resources were also selected andtailored to fit the design of
the Social Studies program in the Edgewood Independent School District of SanAntonio, Texas.
