Introduction to Cosmetology - 10th-This course is the beginning of a 3 year track to the Cosmetology licensing program. Theory and hands on activities will be practiced in Hair care, Skin care, and Nail care. Other areas of study are Sciences associated with bacteriology, safety, environment issues, and protection of the public. Students will be registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Beauty Schools and will begin their journey of education needed to obtain Cosmetology licensure.Credits: 1 – full year – one class periodCosmetology 1 - 11thThis course is the second level of cosmetology and will provide students the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in both theory and practical applications. Advanced practices in haircutting and hairstyling will be practiced. Chemical formulations will be introduced and safety and sanitation requirements associated with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation will be followed. Students will continue acquiring hours and practical applications needed to complete the Cosmetology program.Credits: 3 - full year – 3 class periods
Cosmetology 2 – 12thThis course provides students the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in both theory and practical applications. Clocked hours will continue while students practice advanced development in hair coloring, chemical textures, and haircutting. Students will practice in a cosmetology industry setting while completing competencies, practical applications for the completion of the program and in preparation for the Cosmetology State exam.
*Student transfers from other Cosmetology Schools may follow a different track or grade level if entering EISD. Students need to be actively enrolled during the school year to remain in the Cosmetology program.
