Meet the Teacher Night
Welcome back to Jose Cardenas Early Childhood Education Center. My name is Mrs. Maria Perez and I am looking forward to teaching your class this year.
The following is some valuable information and will help your child be successful:
Attendance: Regular school attendance is essential for your child to make the most of his/her education. Please make an effort to have your child at school every day. If they must be absent call and be prepared to submit an absent note upon returning.
Tardies-Students may be signed in at 7:45am every day, and will be counted tardy at 8:00am. If your child is late you must get a tardy slip from the office before they enter the room.
Homework- Homework for the week will be given every Monday. There may be some days of arts/crafts, and some days when there is nothing to turn in. It is your responsibility to work with your child on all homework assignments. Theme letters will be sent home by the teacher. Simple tasks are asked to be completed and explained on theme letters. These tasks reinforce concepts taught in the classroom. Tasks shall not take more than fifteen minutes. I encourage you to help your child with these tasks; this is an opportune time for parents to enjoy a quantity and a quality time with their child.
Reading Log- Read daily to your child a minimum of fifteen minutes. Maintain a Reading Log for stories being read. Teacher will supply a Reading Log sheet for each student. Record that you read to your child by having coloring the item on the page one per night.
Discipline Plan-School wide rules are in effect at Jose Cardenas ECEC. Students have five rules to remember and follow. Please help your child become familiar with these rules by going over them at home.
1. We Walk 4. We Clean UP
2. We Listen 5. We Take Care of Our School
3. We Share 6. We Leave Name Tags Alone
A behavior calendar will be sent home to inform you of your child’s behavior. We need to work together to make your child’s first school year an exciting and a positive experience. Discussing your child’s behavior is a step to a successful social development for your child.
Change of Clothes- Please send 2 sets of clean clothes including socks, labeled with the students name in case of accident(s). We also do many art activities and they may get dirty then as well.
Uniform-ALL students are required to wear a school uniform.
*Khaki or navy pants, skirts, shorts.
*White or orange polo or collared shirt, or school spirit shirt.
*Spirit Day (Friday) they may wear jeans with school shirt.
Sleep-Your child should get plenty of rest each night. It is important for your child to be alert and ready to learn each day. Set a bedtime and be consistent.
Report Card-Report cards are sent out every nine weeks. Progress reports are sent out every three weeks except when report cards go out.
Dismissal-Dismissal is promptly at 3:15. Parents need to have their picture ID every day for pick up. A note MUST be sent if you made arrangements other them your child’s normal pick-up person and a picture ID is required for everyone who is picking up.
