Meet the Teacher:
Mr. Gray is a 2004 graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor’s degree in English and is TEA certified to teach English, Language Arts and Reading in grades 8 through 12. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. Gray relocated to San Antonio in 2000 to finish his education after a ten-year career in the Package Delivery business. Mr. Gray began his teaching career in 2005 at Memorial High School teaching Sophomore Reading. He moved to teaching primarily English 3 in 2006 and managed five sections of that class by the 2011-2012 school year. Mr. Gray developed and first taught the English elective class Literary Genres: Science Fiction in 2007. This class continues today as a popular elective among Memorial and Toltech Juniors and Seniors. Gray transferred to the Toltech T-Stem Academy in 2013 after attending intensive College Board Advanced Placement training to teach Advanced Placement Language and Literature. Mr. Gray’s personal interests are all in the fields of American literature, music, and popular culture. Mr. Gray has sponsored Skateboarding and Dungeons and Dragons Gaming clubs in the past and is coaching Memorial’s district champion UIL Literary Criticism and Ready Writing Teams for the sixth year in a row.
