Memorial High School Varsity Concert Band wins UIL Sweepstakes Award

Congratulations to our Memorial High School Varsity Concert Band for winning the UIL Sweepstakes Award for 2014.
 
High School bands can only win this award if they earn a 1st Division in Marching Band, Concert Band and Sight Reading. This is only the second time inthe history of Memorial High School that our band has won this award. 
 
Our band made a “sweep” with all six adjudicators awarding unanimous first division(Superior) ratings to our band.
UIL Concert judge’s comments included:
“Good sounds throughout the band, top to bottom. Parts very well prepared….verymeticulous with attention to detail. Very musical group.”---Bill Cason-UIL Executive Secretary Region 14
“Great tone, great balance, great solos…very musical. BRAVO!!!! Beautiful job!”--Jeff Stone—–retired
“This was truly a wonderful musical experience which I enjoyed so much. Thiswas a real treat! Thanks to all involved.”
 
Randy Kelley - Copperas Cove Sight Reading judges comments were: “Great musical playing”….”A Solid Performance”….”Congrats to all for a good job!”

This has been a banner year for our band with awards exceeding any Memorial bands to date. The students of the Memorial Band work hard to maintain their winning tradition and to represent our community and our district to the absolute best of their abilities. Many thanks are in order to our great Memorial Band Boosters and parents and to our supportive administration.
