Rockets offense/defense and special team score in victory to stay undefeated

An all-around effort by the Kennedy Rockets on every side of the ball (offense/defense/special teams) led by Matthew Avalos two touchdown runs helped lead Kennedy to a 25-7 victory over the Pearsall Mavericks on Friday night at a rainy Mata Stadium.


Kennedy's Kevin Garduno 24 yard field goal opened the scoring mid-way through the first quarter.  Matthew Avalos then scored on a four yard touchdown run in the second giving the Rockets a 10-0 halftime lead.  The Rocket defense forced a safety in the third quarter recovering a fumble in the Pearsall end zone.  Matthew Guzman returned a kick-off 77 yardsfor a touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter.  Avalos then finished the scoring with a three yard touchdown run.  Avalos ran for a total of 239 yards on the night.

With the win, the Rockets remain undefeated with a 3-0 record.  They begin District 29-4A play this week when they travel to Uvalde.  Kick-off is at 7pm. 

Kennedy's next home game will be on Friday, October 4th when they host Medina Valley at Mata Stadium. Kick-off will be at 7pm.
