Edgewood Robotics Teams Shine at Competition!
GEAR Robotics Competition at UTSA was held on Saturday, March 31, 2012. Congratulations to all the team who participated!!
Edgewood entered a record number 32 teams from the 10 elementary schools. The morning rounds were for seeding the teams where the top 8 from each color division advanced to the competition level and the path to the finals. Until Saturday no Edgewood team had been in the top 16 for the afternoon rounds.
On Saturday, the Robocons from Roosevelt and Robo Droids from Stafford made the elite 16! Robo Droids made a great showing but fell short of making it to the next round. The Robocon team made the finals and took second place in the Elementary Division among 74 teams!!!!
In addition to the competition, two other teams received awards. The teams from Perales won the Theme Award for their innovative dress related to the theme of “Power Up”. The Domo Bots team from L. B. Johnson won 2nd place in the Young Engineers Category Elementary Division for their engineering notebook.
The students, coaches, staff, and parents are to be commended on the wonderful showing of all our Edgewood teams. All our teams are winners. More points were scored than last year and more teams were entered. Thanks to all of the Edgewood family who were present until the end to cheer on and support our teams. Next year will be bigger and better.
Our goal for next year is for each school to enter 4 teams. We are Edgewood and we are on the move!!
