Dear Edgewood Community:

Happy New Year!  We hope everyone enjoyed the holiday break!  We are ready to start the second semester of the 2014-2015 academic year.  So many exciting things happen during the spring semester.  We begin with the academic UIL events, for elementary, middle school and high school students.  Athletics are busy with basketball and soccer, and then we move to baseball, softball and track.  Fine arts will be busy preparing for UIL concert/sight-reading contest, solo and ensemble contest and theatre.  What an exciting time to be part of Edgewood ISD schools.

We would like to congratulate the elementary fine arts magnet schools for successful performances in December.  It was so beautiful to see our youngest students be prepared at such an early age in fine arts.  All the Christmas concerts were wonderful.  We have such talented students.

The academic team is ready to support the teachers and students of Edgewood through various activities.  We have writing support for teachers ready for the final push for STAAR Writing.  Planning sessions will continue with all core area teacher groups throughout the semester.  The planning has been especially important in the area of math for all teachers as the Texas Education Agency has changed the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) at all grade levels.  The academic team has been working with grade level teams throughout the year on implementation of the new TEKS.  Change can be a challenge, but change makes us stronger. The teachers are doing great!

If you have any questions about our academic initiatives and programs, please call our office at 444-8108 for elementary, 444-8102 for secondary, or 444-8110 for curriculum, instruction and assessment questions.

May 2015 bring everyone success and blessings.

“The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.”
