I am originally from a small town right in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley, Donna, Texas. I graduated from Pan American University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. I taught 7th grade English for two years in Donna at Todd Jr. High and then moved to San Antonio in 1991.
I have been in the Edgewood District since 1991, getting my start at Edgewood High School as a reading teacher, eventually teaching English, Speech, and ESL. In 1996, Edgewood HS closed, and I was then transferred to Memorial High School where I taught English I, II, III with my niche in ESL. My best year was when I became the districts' Teacher of the Year in 2002. I went back to school, Our Lady of the Lake University, and became an assistant principal at Gus Garcia Middle School in 2004. I had five (5) great learning years there and returned to Memorial High School where I was an assistant principal for four years. Currently, I am the assistant principal at Loma Park Elementary. I look forward to a great year working with wonderful teachers, staff, and principal!
My philosophy is predicated upon creating an atmosphere in which collaborative efforts are key towards solving problems and reaching educational goals.
