"Those who don't read have no advantage over those who can't"                                                               - Mark Twain

About Me:   I was born and raised in San Antonio, and I am proud to state that I am a first generation American and college graduate.  I am a product of NISD, graduating from John Jay High School in 1996. I attended Northern Arizona University in Yuma Arizona and eventually transferred to the University of Texas at San Antonio where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with Secondary (8-12) and ESL Certification.

This will be my seventh year with the Edgewood Independent School District and my second year at John F. Kennedy High School. In addition to teaching, I enjoy being involved in the community.  My previous work experience within EISD was at Memorial High School.

I encourage and enjoy being involved in student activities throughout the school year.  I strongly encourage my students to be active in their community because I believe differences are made only when one is active.  Throughout the year I invite students to be part of activities that I participate in; not only is this good for the community but it also assists them on their resumes/scholarship applications.  Some of the activities I have helped organize include, but are not limited to:  San Antonio's Rock and Roll Marathon, Graffitti Wipe-Out, Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner, Elf Louise, UTSA's Diploma Dash 5K Scholarship Benefit Run and the Christmas Night Parade.

My Belief's:  I believe everyone is capable of achieving success and my goal is to assist your child in accomplishing this goal to his/her fullest potential.  I believe teaching is one of the most important careers an individual can partake in.  As teacher's we possess a tremendous power to impact a child's life and personally I work at making that impact a positive one.

Students need to be proactive in their education, that is the most important lesson, we as teachers, can teach them in order for them to have a successful future.  I have high expectations for all my students, but they themselves need to have those expectations as well.  Everyone has the potential to succeed but they must also possess the desire.  I am here, ready and willing to help....whether you are a student of mine or not.

I have a passion for encouraging my students to dream and to believe in themselves, something which only parents usually do.  I appreciate the fact that everyday is different and every school year is a journey which will prove that all things are possible for those who believe, work hard, have determination and dedication.
