Hey there, what's happenin? This is my first year as a Kennedy rocket and I already feel at home. I'll begin by explaining a little about myself and then go on about my class. I grew up in San Antonio and graduated from James Madison High School. I studied at Texas State University- San Marcos where I got my major in exercise sports science with a minor in Mathematics along with a teacher's certificate. I did some teaching in Kyle and Seguin before I settled into my geometry classroom here at Kennedy. I enjoy live music and am a competitive tennis player.
I teach Geometry, the branch or mathematics that deals with points, lines, surfaces, and solids and examines their properties, measurement, and mutual relations in space. Each student is given a folder to keep track of notes and assignments. Every day students come in to a warm up. These warm ups are either TAKS related or dealing with the content we are learning that week. We do an activity or lecture and then will finish with a closure activity where students sum up something they learned in class that day so it stays fresh on their mind. My tutoring hours are every day before school from 8:00-8:30 and after school from 4:30-5:30. You can reach me by email at Scott.Schoenmakers@eisd.net or by phone during my conference from 11:30am-12:10pm at 210-444-8040 ext. 3199. I think the best way for a child to learn is for the teacher and parent to work together to ensure academic success. Therefore I will strive to maintain a relationship with the parents of my students and will be as dilligent as possible when responding to your questions, comments, and concerns. Thanks for stopping by!
