I was born and raised in Crystal City, Texas, and moved to San Antonio in 1979. I worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 13 years. In 1990 I went back to college to obtain my Bachelor's degree in Health. I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1995 with a degree in Health. I later changed my career choice to become a teacher.
I began teaching "At Risk Students" in 1998 at John H. Wood Jr. Charter School here in San Antonio which served mainly Special Ed students. I obtained my Special Ed certification while teaching at this school. I began teaching VAC here at Edgewood District in 2008.
