My name is Susan Galentine and I teach Choir, Applied Music, and Music Theory for the Edgewood Fine Arts Academy, EISD, in San Antonio, Texas. For the first time in Edgewood history, we took the choir to contest (Concert and Sightreading). Our non-varsity choir earned a Division II rating in concert! Way to go students, many congratulations, and many thanks for your dedication and talent! All the choir students who participated in UIL Solo and Ensemble this year earned DivisionI ratings from the judge, qualifying three of them for State competition. One of our choir students placed 5th Chair in the RegionXI Treble Choir. The choir pages will have information regarding what is expected of students enrolled in choir and vocal ensembles, what vocal music the students study and rehearse in class, performances, and competitions. Choir groups have two main performances a year. One in the Fall, and the other in the Spring. All choir members are expected to perform in both of these events. There are multiple opportunities for choir members to compete; Region XI Treble Auditions, UIL Solo & Ensemble, the American Bluebonnet Classic, and now Concert and Sightreading. These competitions are required for Letterman Jacket eligibility. | Professional Links Edgewood Fine Arts Academy Music Theory Page Back to the EISD Fine Arts Academy Page Back to the EISD District Home Page |
