Math at the 8th grade level includes state objectives one through six. Objective one concerns numbers, objective wo concerns patterns and algebraic thinking, objective three covers geometry, objective four is about measurement, objective five concerns statistical analysis and probability, and objective six covers critical thinking and problem solving strategies. Students are refining skills using ratios and proportions, pattern recognition, making predictions, and some fundamental skills that will prepare them for Algebra and geometry.
Algebra is the study of patterns and making predictions. Patterns can be found in linear, quadratic and exponential forms. Students look at, and make predictions about these patterns in graphs, tables, equations and apply them problems in business, the sciences and every day living.
This year, in both 8th grade math and in AlgebraI, we are using C-scope for our curriculum.
