The 7thgrade social studies classroom examines the history of Texas from early times to the present. Below are some of the eras of Texas history we will study:
  • Natural Texas and its People
  • Age of Contact
  • Mexican National
  • Spanish Colonial
  • Revolution and Republic
  • Early Statehood                                             
The 8thgrade social studies classroom examines the history of the United States.  Students will learn to be successful on the 8th grade STAAR exam.  Students explore the motives that drove exploration through issues that lead to the Reconstruction following the Civil War. Below are some of the eras of US history we will study:
  • Exploration and Colonization
  • American Revolution
  • Constitution
  • Early Republic
  • Manifest Destiny and Westward Expansion
  • Civil War
  • Reconstruction                                                     
 
 
 
How are we learning?  We will learn in a variety of ways!  Activities will be fun and challenging!  The main goal is to help you survive in a democratic society.  Expect activities that require you to write, illustrate, move, listen, create, predict, debate and justify.  We are preparing you to be successful on the 8th grade STAAR test and in college.
