I am so glad to be back to spend another year with the amazing students of Stafford Elementary. I think being an Art Teacher is one of the best jobs in the world! It is very rewarding to see my students use their talents and imaginations to createsuch wonderful art.
I have been teaching Art for 10 years, after receiving my BFA from Texas State University in Studio Art. I hold an all-level certification in Art K-12, and have experience both at the high school and elementary levels. This will be my 8th year working with the students here at Stafford, and I am so excited to see all the great work to come. As an Art Educator, my goal is to provide students with an opportunity to access their imaginations and find their artistic voice. My aim is to facilitate student learning by inspiring and encouraging creative thought, individuality, dedication, good citizenship, hard work and fun.
I believe that every child has the right to learn in an enthusiastic, positive, safe environment. Because of this I hold students to very high standards when it comes to citizenship. I feel all students should be respectful of others, and strive to posses excellent character. Because of this, at the completion of every lesson, I like to choose an "Art Star" which is based solely on effort and behavior. In my class, I am alwayslooking to celebrate students who are trying new things, have a positive attitude and most importantly, are doing their best!
