Hello and Welcome to Mrs. McLees' Teacher Page!

I am entering my second year as a 5th grade teacher at Stafford Elementary.  I am so excited to be here!  Before coming to Stafford, I taught Science and Social Studies at the middle school level.
A little bit about me:
I am married and have two wonderful dogs at home, a dachshund and a chihuahua.  I moved to San Antonio in 2007.  Before coming to this city, I attended the University of Texas at Austin.  I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Government and Latin American Studies and my Master's in Latin American Studies and Mexican American Studies.  As an undergrad, I worked as an intern for Governor Rick Perry and had the opportunity to explore state government hands-on!  During graduate school, I researched educational politics and challenges in the state of Texas.  I also worked for the Public Policy Clinic at the University of Texas.
My educational philosophy maintains that we are all lifelong learners.  I am always studying and searching for ways to improve my teaching skills.  Each student has their own unique way of learning.  I use a variety of strategies to meet the needs of all the learners in my classroom.  I believe each and every student has the ability to achieve academic success.  It is my responsibility to work alongside students, families, and our Stafford community to ensure every student reaches their potential in the classroom.
I am so happy to be here at Stafford Elementary.  Thank you for visiting our class website.
