Can you believe the first nine weeks is already over?  I know I am very glad that our benchmark testing is over!!  Watch for report cards sometime at the end of next week. Parent conference sign-up sheets went home today; please return yours as soon as possible. 

What an great week!!  Our attendance for this week was the best it has been all year!!!  Thank you parents and students!    Permission slips went home on Thursday for our field trip to the Witte Museum on Tuesday.  Please sign and return the form if you haven't already done so.  We have another Flex Day on the 12th.  Almost all students took at least two AR tests this week, and they are beginning to get closer to their 9-week goals.  We will have an after-school movie party for those students who meet their AR goals for the first nine weeks.  Ask your child if he (or she) has earned their party yet!

Can you believe it is nearly October? Where did September go so quickly?!  We have been incredibly busy with all of our learning!  And there is so much more to come in the months ahead.  In the next two weeks, I will be sending out a sign-up sheet for parent conferences.  I will have many time slots available. Please respond quickly by sending back the form with your child.

 

I am looking for at least one Room Parent who can come to school and run copies, staple materials, etc.  If you are interested, please contact me and we'll get the process started for signing up as a volunteer.  Thank you!!

What a week this has been! I am definitely hoping for air conditioning next week!  Next week we will take our first math unit assessment over place value of whole numbers and decimals.  We will then begin the unit on additing and subtracting.  Please make sure your child is reading every single day.  They are expected to take at least 2 Accelerated Reader tests each week.

We had another busy week, but were able to complete our reading testing.  We are ready to start reading groups next week!  This will be a very busy time and will help your child to become independent learners. Each child will be working at his/her own level to make sure that they are all working at the 4th grade level or above.  Overall, the students are behaving well; but talking when the teacher is talking is a problem in both my room as well as in Art and Music.  For the most part, the students are completing their homework and all classwork, but please check their your child's planner each night to be certain that all work has completed for that day.

It was a great first week and I am having a great time getting to know my students.  Just a few reminders: 

* Labor Day Holiday, Monday September 3

* Reading Calendars are to be completed DAILY.

* Please sign planners every day.

* Paper Plate circle maps are due Tuesday, September 4
