CHOIR
Choir is open to students in 3rd-5th grade.  They learn music reading and  performance skills.  They have traveled to the San Antonio International Airport, St. Jude's retirement home, and Fiesta Texas. In addition to performances at Roosevelt,  our choir joins the choirs from all of Edgewood for two "District Choir" concerts.  We have one in the Fall and one in the Spring.  We have practice after school on  Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. with extra concert rehearsals as needed.

PIANO/KEYBOARD
Piano/keyboard is also open to students in grades 3-5.  Students learn sight reading skills, music composition and ensemble (group) playing. They learn at their own pace in our VH1 keyboard lab with Casio Keyboards.  Space is limited to 16 students and they meet on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

RECORDER
This year we will be offering recorder to 3rd-5th grade students who are interested in playing an instrument from the Woodwind Family.  All 4th grade students in Edgewood received a recorder last year.   5th grade students will get an opportunity to play their recorders in class as well as sign up for this after-school class and advance their playing skills.  Students learn music reading, breathing and performance techniques, and playing simple melodies.   This class will meet on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

GUITAR
This class also teaches sight reading and instrument playing skills .  Students will also learn how to use a guitar pick and make chords to accompany themselves while singing a song. We have school guitars that students may take home to practice between our class meetings.  The school has only 11 guitars, but students who bring their own guitars are welcome to join. We can have a total of 17 students in our class.  This class meets on Friday from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

How do you join?  Get a permission slip from the music room.  Fill it out and have your parents sign it.  Bring it back to the music room!!
