Reading - By the end of 2nd grade students are expected to: - transition from learning to read to reading to learn - answering questions of who, what, when and where Language Arts - By the end of 2nd grade students are expected to write a simple composition: - with two to three paragraphs - a beginning, middle, and end - conforming to the grammar and spelling rules - produce authentic writing Math - By the end of 2nd grade students are expected to be able to: - add and subtract with borrowoing up the the hundreds - know multiplication facts up to 10 X 10 - measure length, capacity, and mass - solve word problems Social Studies - By the end of 2nd grade students will learn about communities: - in their neighborhood - in Texas - in the United States Science -By the end of the 2nd grade students will learn about: - lab safety skills - use of science tools - physical science such as physical characterisics of water and magnetism - Earth Science such fossils and objects in the sky - Life Science such as the basic need for survival of plants and animals - Scientific Method during preparation for the SCIENCE FAIR. |
