Several years ago I thought of a way to encourage students to read.  I developed the My Readings folder.  In that folder I have a table of contents followed by the pledge, songs, and poems that children have learned by rote. That way they can practice reading what they are saying.  Later, I added stories they have written. When children are to read by themselves whether on free time or during "reading to self", students are free to read from My Readings.                                                                                                                                                                                                 I am curious to find out what my fellow co-workers think, and if there are ideas I can integrate with this activity.  

Teachers,  I love poems. However, this is the first time I teach poems in spanish.

I am told that Spanish poems are harder to teach.

Do I focus on rhymes, rhythms, and/or expression.

I would appreaciate imput from others.
