Instructional Resource Page

Welcome to First Grade!  I am excited to be your child's teacher and look forward to a wonderful year filled with many exciting experiences.  Early childhood education is my passion and I hope to instill a lifelong love of learning in each and every student. I believe every child can be successful as long as they are given the opportunity to learn in a fun environment. In order to maximize learning opportunities I encourage you to further your child's learning at home.  There are several things you may help with to help ensure your child has a successful school year:
  • Read daily!  You may check out free books at your local libary.
  • Use nature as an opportunity for learning!  Count trees, insects, leaves, rocks, etc.  Make patterns with these items as well.
  • The grocery store is a wonderful place to explore.  Point out the wonderful colors of fruits and vegetables.  Sort your produce at home- large/small, long/short, by color, shape or size.
  • Long car rides can turn into family fun, sing your way to your destination!
  • Draw pictures about any family trips or special places you may go.
  • Create a book about your family labeling the pictures.
  • Tell stories with a beginning, middle and end.
I hope you enjoy these ideas, please see me for many more.  Thank you for taking the opportunity to further your child's funds of knowledge.  Together, anything is possible!
