First Grade Bilingual

The most important goal in First Grade is fluency in reading.  By the end of 1st student, every child should be reading 80 words per minute with an 80% comprehension rate.  In order for your child to increase fluency, your child should read daily at home. Repeated readings (same story) will increase fluency.
Your child should also practice addition facts.  I have sent flash cards for your child to practice at home.
Your child will receive a Weekly Homework page which states the objective for that week.  This will include the Spelling Words for the week and all objectives being covered for Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts.
I expect every child to be in the classroom no later than 7:45 A.M. every day, with all previous day assignments in their folders turned in as they walk into the classroom.  Instruction starts promptly at 8:00 A.M.
We have Math as the first subject in the morning.
Conference Time is from 9:40 - 10:25 and Lunch is from 10:45 - 11:15.
Science, Reading, Writing and Reteach are in the afternoon after lunch.
