ACCELERATED READER (AR)
What is Accelerated Reader (AR)?
AR is a computerized reading program. Students choose books at their own level. Once read, students take a short multiple-choice quiz on the computer.
After completing the quiz, students are awarded points. Points are determined by the length and difficulty of the book.
Students in grades 1st - 5th will have goals set every nine weeks (1st grade students will begin AR in the second semester). To reach their goal, students must obtain the number of points assigned and receive an 85% average.
Finding AR Books
All AR books in the library are marked on the spine with a color coded sticker.
Students may also search for AR books using AR BookFinder (under Links Page).
