Dear Parents,

          I am delighted to have your child as a student in my classroom this school year.  The theme this year is, “Rigor + Relevance + Relation = Success,” and by working together we can help your child achieve his/her potential.  I have high expectations for each child and by working as a team we can achieve our goals.    

          I attended De Zavala Elementary, Tafolla Junior High, Lanier High School, and Our Lady of the Lake University.  I am on my 27th year of teaching and all 27 years have been here at Gardendale Elementary.  I have taught from 2^nd – 6^th grades, so I have a variety of experiences in teaching.

          In order to meet our goals, we need to understand that a good attitude, best behavior, and completion of our work must be achieved.  Please help by seeing that your child:

·        Reads daily

·        Studies spelling words and science/reading vocabulary

·        Studies multiplication tables

·        Completes all other homework assignments

          My conference times are before school (by appointment), during school (1:40pm – 2:25pm) or after school (3:15pm – 4:00pm).  You can also send a note, call the school to leave a message, or email me at lmartinez@eisd.net.

          I look forward to working with each child and creating new learning techniques for them to use as they continue their education.  I have as high expectations for them as you do, so I look forward to meeting with each one of you to ensure your child is mastering 5^th grade state standards.
