Edgewood ISD will follow the new nutrition standards implemented by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  The new standards are part of the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2012 championed by First Lady Michelle Obama.

The new standards are based on recommendations by the Institute of Medicine and follow the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.  The standards will increase fruits, vegetables and grains in school meals, while lowering trans fats and sodium.  EISD complies with all USDA and Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) guidelines.
