Reading & Language Arts: Handwriting and grammar skills are integrated into daily journal entries and in written compositions. Parts of speech, sentence structure, punctuation, spelling, concepts of main idea, author's purpose, character, plot, setting, and expression are taught. Focus on building fluency through oral and timed reading, as well as comprehension skills are integrated into small and whole group instruction.
Mathematics: Problem solving is emphasized as students further their understanding of numbers, operations, adding and subtracting one and two digit numbers. Students use hands-on activities and a variety of manipulatives to learn time, money, geometry, and fractions. Measurement concepts, such as weight, mass, capacity, time, and temperature, are investigated. 
Science: Students study and investigate the changing states of matter, life cycle, plant and animal characteristics, magnetism, etc. They perform outdoor investigations using scientific processes, including inquiry methods; analyze information, make informed judgments, and use an assortment of tools to gather and document data, while incorporating physical, earth, and life sciences, concepts and vocabulary.
Social Studies: Basic concepts of history, geography, economics, and government are explores, as well as a variety of cultures. Students will become skilled at basic map, chart, graph, and thinking skills. They will learn about local and prominent people who showed good citizenship and who have influenced our community, city, state, country and the world.
