Greetings! My name is Donald Marchand; my friends call me Don. I am the new band director of the Gus Garcia Charger Band. I want to thank you for taking the time to visit my web page. This is my second year at EISD and I am thoroughly excited to be a part of a World-Class Education. This is my third year as a music teacher after spending 23 years as a professional trombonist/musical arranger/jazz band director in the USAF Band. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas but I have had the privilege of performing all over the world as a member of the USAF Band. As a matter of fact I was stationed here in San Antonio for 15 years in the USAF Band of the West!
I am a graduate of the following: Clarkston High School in Clarkston, Georgia where I was fortunate enough to have been in the Georgia All-State Concert Band and Jazz Band my 10th-12th grade years, The Community College of the Air Force where I received my Associate of Science degree in Music, McNeese State University in Lake Charles Louisiana where I received a Bachelor of Music In Performance with a concentration in jazz and commercial music. I also spent several years studying at the University of North Texas as a jazz education major before joining the Air Force.
I am a member of the Texas Music Educators' Association, the Texas Jazz Educators' Association and have served as an adjudicator for the Texas All State Jazz Band auditions. I am a past member of the following: UNT 3 O'clock Lab Band, UNT Symphonic Band, McNeese State Symphonic Band, McNeese State Jazz Ensemble, Danny Davis and the Nashville Brass, USAF Band of the West, USAF Band of Flight, USAF Band of the Gulf Coast, USAF Band in Europe and the USAF Band of Mid-America. I guess my greatest claim to fame is having recorded on the sound track to the movie "Rocky IV".
My hobbies and fun things to do include going to the beach, salt water fishing and riding motorcycles. Please feel free to e-mail me at email@example.com if you have any questions or concerns that I may help you with.
